Eri Komura

Japan, 1969

Eri Komura was born in Tokyo, in 1969.

In 1992 She graduated in Chinese Painting at the Fine Arts School in Hubei, Japan.

In 1995 she moved to Italy. In 1998 she attended the Free School of Nude at the Fine Arts Academy in Florence, where she graduated in 2003.

Since 1998 she shows her works in solo and group exhibition in Italy and Japan, obtaining important prizes and honours.

“…Eri Komura is a woman that paints other women. She places herself not on the side of women, but with women and from a neutral position, she sounds the moods, she seeks the various personalities, their intimate feelings. They are women that crowd the canvases, as living in a parallel world and looking at the spectator, they whisper among themselves, looking at each other, with complicity and making feel excluded from the game whom is observing them. Women with one thousand thoughts, with a thousand complex personalities, but after all an only woman.”

Since 2000 she co-operates with Galleria Gagliari.
